Connecting Tones. SUB30 SUZUKI ULTRABEND MAIDE IN JAPAN

SUB30 10-HOLE DIATONIC SUZUKI ULTRABEND SUB30

This easy, soulful new approach to chromaticism on the blues harmonica is addictive!

In order to play a chromatic scale on the normal 10 hole harmonica, you have to use the difficult overblow/overdraw techniques, which require harmonicas with very delicate reed setup. The new Suzuki UltraBend changes all that! Now you can get a chromatic scale by normal playing plus simple bending technique. With the SUB30, you can easily play phrases and music styles that you gave up on before, because you could not get some notes.
The revolutionary new UltraBend harmonica gives you 18 bends of a semitone or more (instead of the usual 8 on a normal harp)! And these are all stable bends, easy to control at the correct pitch, bend up and down, add vibrato etc – just the same as the bends you’re used to already. In addition to its chromatic ability the SUB30 gives you lots of extra expression on every note. Its fresh new possibilities will bring the creativity flowing out of you.

You can expand your power of expression with the ULTRABEND

One of the most appealing features of the 10 hole harmonica is that it covers a range of 3 octaves in such a small form. But to achieve it there are some notes missing from the home scale.
For many years players have adopted a technique called BENDING that allowed them to get those missing notes. For example, in the low octave of a C harp, the notes F or A, which are not otherwise available.
Bending also allows you to get some additional chromatic notes. For example the C# on holes 1 and 4, which is available by bending down the draw reed. Or the F# in hole 9, by bending the blow reed.
However, even with this technique, there are some notes you can’t get on a normal diatonic harmonica.

You can get these other notes by a technique called overblowing, but this requires very delicate reed setup and it is difficult for most players to master, taking many years.

But now, with the additional 10 special reeds in the SUB30 UltraBend, you can get ALL the chromatic notes in every octave by normal BENDING technique! It’s easy to learn, and with the SUB30, you can quickly play phrases and music styles you gave up on before.
